Despite the "Flamin' Hot" title, it was cool and rainy today. After a 5 AM feeding, I couldn't get to sleep, so I had a productive morning, catching up on mail, bills, etc. and making some preparation for our trip tomorrow.
Today was mostly spent packing for our Seaside trip tomorrow. I spent a lot of the day snuggling and snoozing with Ida or keeping up with Betty's 10,000 questions and demands.
Today was stressful because Jen usually starts getting organized several days ahead. Jen and I have packing down to a science, though, and we made it work. Jen and I make a good team. Jen is detail-oriented, so she's making lists and checking things off and making sure we've thought of everything. Meanwhile, I'm doing difficult stuff like putting the roof rack on the car, picking up and hauling heavy things, and tetris-ing everything into the car. It's a good system.
This time is a bit different-- it's our first trip with all 6 of us in the car at the same time. It's going to be tight, and there's not much room for cargo. We're going to have to get creative on what we bring and how we bring it. Good thing we have a roof rack and (quasi-)waterproof tubs to go on it.
I promised some "after" pictures after the hair dyeing party last night. Here goes:
Sabrina says that if my orange hair looked like Cheetos, my new red hair looks like Flamin' Hot Cheetos:
Pretty fun. It's too bad we're about to spend 3 days in the ocean and a chlorinated pool. This hair color is going to fade fast. But it's cool for now.
I finished indoctrinating Edgar and Sabrina into the world of Mystery Science Theater 3000, and Jen and I did a new thing: ordering grocery pickup for Seaside tomorrow (rather than trucking groceries there).
Also, an aside about Ida: She seems to be getting bigger since our doctors appointment last week. A friend loaned us a scale and we tested it out, and Ida came out at 7.1 pounds, which is a pound up from last week. We're also noticing that she likes to stretch out her legs more. For her first 4 weeks, she had her legs up in a permanent frog-position, but now she stretches them long and tall. I guess she REALLY didn't want to come out of the womb, and was pretty put out at her sudden eviction. Now she's finally resigned that this is a permanent situation, and she'd better make the best of it. Love that little Ida girl.
