Day 19: Saturday with the kids

So today is Ida's due date. How weird to think that she would have spent the last 19 days in utero and would just be born about now.

Betty had her last soccer game today. She and I went (on-time) in the orange car, and Jen and the other kids showed up a bit later.

This was Ida's first game. All the parents and girls cooed over her. In fact, it got to be a bit of a distraction for the girls on the bench.

Betty and best friend Brielle, on the bench, with Ida.

After the game, we got ice cream at Angel's Donuts

 (not donuts)

We had a family discussion at the ice cream shop about everyone spending time outside this summer. The proposal was floated that we simply encourage the kids to spend time outside, rather than regulating or limiting their time. (more on that later)

We had a lazy afternoon. I got a substantial nap, and the kids watched a bunch of spongebob (the same episodes, over and over and over and over and over and over). I cared for a fussy Ida while Jen got a nap in, and made some progress rebuilding our desktop PC (it's like PC brain surgery. I removed the old brain and am putting a new brain in, but it should retain all the functions and memories of the old brain, just be able to think faster.)

I fixed a freezer lasagna for dinner (those take a long time) and noted that the kids, despite being "encouraged" to spend their time outside today, didn't budge from the couch, watching spongebob. I think "encouragement" isn't going to be adequate this summer.

This evening, I got to mess with the computer (new hardware seems to run, but it's not [yet] recognizing ANY drives), and listen to records and read my book in the living room. Life is good.
